Well it’s a been awhile since I’ve written but my life has become dramatically busier and I think this is good for weight loss. During my hot lazy slow summer I was pretty hot, lazy and slow all the time.
I went to Houston for a visit at the end of August and heard from 2 people (including one that I’m not related to) that I looked a bit slimmer. Needless to say it was very encouraging! Especially since I had only been at it for 2 weeks. Maybe that post-age-30 metabolic slowdown hasn’t happened to me yet. Or maybe it was the semi-dramatic dietary changes I made but I guess something is working.
I’m still fitting in Jane Fonda’s video where I can and it’s become easier, though I’m still on the “beginner” workout. I had one failed attempt at doing the advanced version and damn near puked. But I bravely held it in because my mom was there and pride was at stake. Hi Mom! I’m still finding beginner to be challenging enough so I’ll stick with it for a bit longer before I attempt advanced again. Too bad there’s no intermediate.
I don’t have much witty banter or observations to share today but I did want to chew the cud a bit on how much easier its become to eat healthy-ish. I read somewhere that (who am i kidding? it was probly oprah.com) it actually makes a diet harder on the individual when they cheat. I wouldn’t say that I am on a diet but more a proactive attempt to eat healthy and avoid the easy junky choices.
And it’s been less than a month but I really don’t feel those urges as strongly now. Though I’m still tempted on occasion I’ve pretty much cut out fast food and soda and really limited my beer intake (hello wine & vodka!). And I’ve become a bit more portion-conscious. The other day I was presented with a beautiful hamburger from Gabby’s and I actually CUT IT IN HALF and left a half. That’s never happened before.
Just last night I was driving on my long commute home from a 10 hour day. I was hungry as hell but I seem to have a new discipline where I avoided the Taco Cabana and BRAND NEW CHICK-FIL-A on campus and headed home for a salad & simple quesadilla. Ok and maybe some soy ice cream too. It was a relatively nutritious meal, tasted wonderful and involved nothing deep-fried.
Hasta la victoria siempre!
